Ingredients Required
- For the base or the chocolate cake
- 1 ¾ cup of all-purpose flour
- 400 g of granulated sugar
- 2 tsp of baking powder
- ¾ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ tsp of baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 250 ml of milk
- ½ a cup of vegetable oil
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1 tsp of salt
- A cup of boiling water
- For the chocolate ganache
- 225 g of finely chopped semi-sweet chocolate
- A cup of heavy cream
- For the filling
- 1 ½ cup of dulce de leche
Instructions
- Preparation of Cake Layers
- Preheat the oven at 350°F.
- Grease with butter and flour two rounded cake pans.
- In a big bowl, gather all the dry ingredients together, i.e., baking powder and soda, cocoa powder, sugar, flour, and salt.
- Now add the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and the oil to the dry ingredients. Beat the ingredients properly till they are well-combined.
- Very slowly add the hot water and beat the batter at a medium speed. Mix well till the batter appears thin.
- Now pour the batter into the cake pans and let them bake for around half an hour.
- After taking out, insert a toothpick to check if they are properly baked.
- Allow the base to cool for around 10 minutes.
- Assembling the Cake
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer after to other while generously applying dulce de leche on top of each.
- Preparing the Chocolate Ganache
- Melt the chopped unsweetened chocolate.
- In another small saucepan, heat the heavy cream on a medium heat till it starts to simmer.
- Now pour the hot cream over the melted chocolate preparation and keep them aside for around 2-3 minutes.
- Then stir them continuously till they appear glossy and smooth and the preparation come to a pourable consistency.
- Decoration of the Cake
- Now pour the ganache over the assembled cake.
- Let the ganache drip from the sides.
