Ingredients Required for a Classic American Chocolate Chip Cookie

  • For the dry ingredients
  • Around 300 g of all-purpose flour
  • ½ a tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • For the wet ingredients
  • 1 cup of unsalted softened butter
  • ¾ cup of granulated and brown sugar each
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • Mix-ups
  • 2 cups of chocolate chips
  • A cup of chopped nut of your choice (preferably pecans or walnuts)

Method of Preparation

  • Preheat the oven at 190°C or 375°F. Arrange baking sheets with a non-sticky mats or parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, properly mix the dry ingredients and keep them aside.
  • In another large bowl, beat the two types of sugar with softened butter until they appear light and fluffy.
  • Now add the eggs one at a time and beat them properly. Make sure they are properly mixed. Pour in the vanilla extract.
  • Now it’s the time to combine the wet and dry ingredients, and mix gently. Do not overdo it.
  • Use a spatula, gently fold the mixture with nuts and chocolate chips, till they are distributed uniformly.
  • With the help of a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, scoop up rounded balls of dough and place them baking sheets (2 meter apart).
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes in the preheated oven.
  • Take them out and let them cool completely.
